The course was completed over 270 hours of training covering 160 lessons covering 5 topics.

As part of the Dog Training College policy, I must complete a minimum of 20 hours per year additional or refresher training.

I also completed 72 lessons of business training to ensure my clients get the best possible service.

Dispelling the Myths of DogTraining

People say to you must control your dog; you must be the alpha! I'd really love to help you question that, to change your opinion.

And it's really important that we start to educate everybody. And we can, in a way that means they're going to treat their dogs as part of the family, as being, cooperating with them, working as a team, being empathetic, listening and giving your dog's choices. I believe all these things are really important.

Dog Senses

I learnt about the dog's five senses and some mind-blowing facts which make you not only look at the world around you differently, realizing that our scope of the world is actually very limited in comparison to the dog and how these individual senses help dogs see and navigate through the world from their perspective what a dog's natural abilities and what their senses are actually capable of.

Enrichment

I really care about the way that dogs are handled and the way that we care for them in modern day life. And so as professional, I believe that we have a really important role educating caregivers as best we can with information on how best to do that. I'm very much leaning towards helping dogs feel enriched, helping them live, fulfilled lives, trying to meet their enrichment needs.

Loose Lead Walking

I loved this course it covered why dogs pull on the lead, what equipment to use and more importantly to avoid, how it can impact on us as a human walking a dog, games and techniques to assist with loosely walking, setting your dog up for success. It also included the natural movement of a dog otherwise known as its gait.

Dog Law

I learnt about how the dog laws affect myself as trainers and dog walkers and for people dealing with dogs.

I learnt about Section three of the Dangerous Dogs Act. How the law looks at the person in charge of the dog at the time of an offence, and the distinction between who is considered to be responsible for the dog at the time, the possible outcomes and who in authority has powers over the dog laws.
